Baptism

Mr Stephen Goulding holding Ellie Isabella and his good lady Jayne with Mia Paris after the

Christening of their Children on Sunday April 22nd 2007. The Rev. Dr. Udobata Onunwa performed

 the service of infant baptism.

Jesus said “the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Mark 10:14)

From 2008, the Service of Baptism is held on the fourth Sunday of each month.

Thank you - for your interest in Baptism. The requirements are not too hard and are chosen so that you can come to the Baptism service with confidence and hope for your child's Christian beginnings.

We ask that you -

• Worship with us for three or more occasions in the months leading to the Baptism. Service times are at 10.30 am on Sundays. We have a Sunday Club for children and a children's area in the Church.

• Read through the leaflets and discuss them together and with the Vicar.

• Come with the godparents ? if available ? to a rehearsal for the service in the week prior to the Baptism.

• Complete the application form and make a time with the Vicar for the rehearsal and the date of the Baptism. Baptisms take place on the fourth Sunday of each month at 12.00 noon.

St. Andrew's

- is part of the worldwide Communion of Anglican Churches. Anglican Churches hold to the faith of the ancient Church, are led by Bishops, practice the sacraments of Holy Baptism and the Eucharist, and hold the Holy Scriptures as their guide for faith and life

- is a pilgrim people i.e. we believe life is a journey which is marked by various rites of passage, like Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Marriage.

Baptism is the main and first way we are Initiated (or Introduced) into the Way of Jesus Christ. Every baptised person needs to grow in their trust in God and so release the gifts of God given in baptism.
