Press Release by St. Andrew's Church

The following statement has been prepared for release to local publications.

Church doors open to the Grange community

St Andrew’s Church, Grange, Runcorn, has successfully bid for money from the Church Urban Fund to employ a part-time Church & Community Development worker. The appointment of Clare McKenzie coincides with the launch of a new project, Opening the Door to the Grange Community, which is driven by the needs, wants and aspirations of Grange residents.

Claire will be out talking to local people, community groups and organisations to gather views and opinions on any possible gaps in services and activities.  At the heart of the project is the church’s desire to play an active part in revitalising the local community, by listening to what people have to say and providing useful, practical solutions to improving everyday life on the Grange.

The church hopes to raise money from funding organisations and trusts to improve its facilities. Plans include a new fully accessible entrance and foyer, toilets and kitchen, and to reorder the church interior to provide flexible accommodation for worship, social and educational activity.

If you require more information or would like to join in the survey, you can telephone Clare on 07590 756 374, speak to the Parish Office on 01928 574411 or to the treasurer, Brian Corless, on 01928 561654.  E-mail; clare624@btinternet.com, or visit: www.standrewgrange.org.uk

Bishop Keith’s reflections on His visit to St. Andrew’s Church
on Sunday evening (April 13th).
(a word of encouragement and appreciation via an email to Rev. Udobata.)
Dear Udobata,
Thank you so much for your kind words. It was very good to be with you and I hope
the word preached will bring all that the Lord intends. I was encouraged because you
have good people there with a heart for the Lord and his mission. Driving round the
estate and seeing the children's centre and the Catholic High School made me see
the opportunities and challenges even more clearly. Udobata, the Lord has called
you there and you have gifts to use to bring the church more fully into the heart of
God's will; don't let anyone sidetrack or impede you as you lead as the Good Shepherd
leads you. I would love to come again, and especially to one of the informal services or
evangelistic events (open air or otherwise). Please thank everyone for making me so
welcome (including the provider of the Jaffa cakes!)

With love in Christ

+Keith

Archdeacon's Visitation

On Tuesday May 20th  2008, many of us attended St. Thomas's Church, Ellesmere Port at the behest of the Archdeacon, the Ven. Donald Allister. This is the annual  occasion when Churchwarden's and Sidesperson's, from South Wirral and Frodsham Deaneries meet and are accredited for the next 12 months. The venue alternates between Deaneries and churches each year.

In 2009, Archdeacon Donald as asked St. Andrew's Church to host the event.

We are pleased to do so and thank God for the glory and blessing that we are remembered for the good that is happening in this parish and community. Our motto is small but positive steps at a time, This is a giant leap in the faith and love we have for God the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit.
