From the Vicar’s desk - The Rev’d Dr. Udobata Onunwa -
our Priest-in –charge explains the planning, timetable, costs and
funding of the CHURCH REORDERING PROJECT

How to make a donation

It is my privilege to write on behalf of the Church Wardens, the Parochial Church Council (PCC) and members of the Fund Raising committee to ask for your help in raising the necessary funds to renovate and build the new facilities required to realise our CHURCH REORDERING Project. These facilities will be for the enjoyment of both visitors and members of our community alike.

With that in mind, we seek your generous support in helping to finance and complete this project as soon as possible. Please give generously to maintain the important future role and central location of St. Andrew’s Church within our parish community.

Planning and Timetable

For the church renovation. The Diocesan Advisory Committee have visited the church and strongly support the proposed upgrading of the church’s facilities, access provision and welcome.

A Vision and Strategy Group has been formed to assess the requirements and to produce a Statement of Need.  There will be large scale changes to the whole complex to ensure we have a church moving forward for the future. Changes include new toilet and Kitchen facilities The Church will become a multi-functional building for use of the Grange Community. A new and level entrance to be constructed to the east of the existing entrance. A quiet room is also envisaged for young children. As in any scheme, outstanding repairs to the fabric of the church are to be included, notably new double glazed window units, roof and facia panels. Landscaping and new planting of the church grounds to be included in the scheme to enhance the appearance of the building, while maintaining security.

All this work will be phased with priority going to the church building.

You can read elsewhere within this section of our website our current status.

Architect’s plans are at 'conceptual stage' have yet to be initiated and various planning requirements finalised.

For the Church Hall, this phase of the program will commence after phase one.

How quickly we can complete both projects will largely depend upon the success in having the necessary legal requirements in place and raising the necessary funds. We plan to commence building within the next twelve months and achieve completion of the project within two years.

Estimated Costs and Funding
The projected total cost for each project is visualized, for the Church up to £420.000. Church Hall costs will be assessed and calculated at a date nearer the end of phase one. We have set up bank accounts and fund raising is under way. However we are now looking for the generosity and support from our local community as well as identifying charitable trusts and companies, for a sizeable part of the financing.
 How YOU can help
This is a project designed to benefit the community as a whole and we all have an important part to play in raising the necessary funds to achieve our ultimate goal. All contributions, no matter the amount, are equally important. Although we will be making applications to selected trusts and companies, the local community should first be given an opportunity to demonstrate its willing support for the Church Restoration project.
