GIVE A SOLDIER A GIFT

While our lads and lassies are out in Afghanistan fighting for our country why not show your appreciation and join with  St. Andrew's in sending gifts, How about a shoe box of goodies to cheer them up or even drop them a line to keep their minds occupied during their free time!

You will find a list of ideal things to put into shoe boxes and if you cannot afford to fill a shoe box why not donate something off the list now and again and we can box things up when we have enough goodies!

We also have a "shoe box bank" scheme where we ask you to donate your unwanted shoe boxes to the church and we can give them to families who needed them

JUST bring any donations along to St Andrew's Church on a Sunday morning at 10.30am or to our Tea and Toast morning on a Tuesday between 10.00am and 12 noon.

You can also come along to weigh and wrap your parcels on a Tuesday morning, during Tea and Toast. We have scales, brown paper, sticky tape and blueys for everybody's use

Among the many troops serving in Afghanistan is the 1st Batt. Mercian Regiment. This regiment was formed from the former Cheshire Regiment, many soldiers in this regiment are local lads. Some you may recall have sacrificed their lives so this country can remain terrorist free. Many, also have been injured. It is a thankless mission in that country, all the more reason for supporting our boys and girls out there. Please be generous with your gifts.

In St. Andrew’s Church there is a prayer list with soldier’s names thereon. We pray for their safe keeping. Please come along and add your treasured names to that list.

We also have a prayer list for any person in this parish community. special to your heart, call in, we welcome you. You can call on a Sunday for Morning Worship at 10.30am or we are open informally on a Tuesday between 10.00am and 12 noon.

Please join us then for ’Tea n Toast’.

Heavens Above—Did you hear the story about………

The Parrot
There was a mild mannered fellow named Dave who received a parrot for his birthday. The parrot had previously been owned by someone else and had a bad attitude and worse vocabulary. Every other word was a curse word.
Dave tried very hard to change the bird's attitude and was constantly saying polite words, playing soft music, anything he could think of. Nothing worked. One day in a moment of desperation, he put the parrot in the freezer. For a few moments he heard the bird squawking and kicking and screaming, and then, suddenly, there was quiet.
Dave got frightened that he might have actually hurt the bird and quickly opened the freezer door. The parrot calmly stepped out onto his extended arm and said: "I'm sorry that I might have offended you with my language and actions and sincerely ask for your forgiveness. I will endeavour to correct my behaviour."
Dave was astounded at the bird's change in attitude and was about to ask what had changed him. Before he could ask, the parrot looked back toward the freezer and said, "May I ask what the chicken did?"

If The Earth

If the Earth were only a few feet in diameter.

Floating a few feet above a field somewhere

People would come from everywhere to marvel at it.

People would walk around it marveling at its big pools

of water, its little pools of water flowing between the pools.

People would marvel at the bumps on it and the holes in it, and they would marvel at the very thin layer of gas surrounding it and the water suspended in the gas.

The people would marvel at all the creatures walking around the surface of the ball, and all the creatures in the water.

The people would declare it PRECIOUS because it was the only one and they would protect it so that it would not be hurt.

The BALL would be the greatest wonder known,

And people would come to behold it, to be healed, to gain knowledge. To know beauty and wonder how it could be.

People would love it and defend it with their lives, because they would somehow know that their lives, their own roundness would be nothing without it.

IF THE EARTH WERE ONLY A FEW FEET IN DIAMETER.
